Developing Trust – Inspiring Hope – Building Success – Shaping the Future

We believe that every pupil and student needs high-quality careers guidance to make informed decisions about their future. Rawlins is committed to providing a planned programme of Career Education Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) to all our pupils and students from Year 7 through to the Sixth Form.

Our career guidance has an aim of inspiring all towards further study and enabling them to make informed decisions. It is important for pupils and students to understand enough about the world of work to know what skills they need to succeed.

At Rawlins, we operate a whole school approach to successful progression. This includes support and advice from tutors, subject teachers and through the careers team.

The Team:

The Careers Lead at Rawlins is Head of Sixth Mr Matt Kinsey, supported by Careers Advisors Mrs West and Mrs Cooper.

Both advisors will offer information, advice and guidance on a range of careers related topics including making decisions at key transition times (year 8 options, post 16, post 18) as well as general help with future educational and career choices.

One to one advice is available through individual careers interviews and there are designated drop in times. Appointments with parents can be arranged by contacting them by email on sallycooper@rawlins.embracemat.org or beverleywest@rawlins.embracemat.org

Rawlins also uses the services of Prospects to provide impartial careers advice to our young learners. Our current advisor is Mrs Jasbinder Bhoot and an appointment can be made by contacting Head of Year or the advisors.

Our Careers programme

Meet our alumni

In this section you will get to hear about some of our fantastic former pupils and students.  We will share their journey into the world of work or their next steps in education or training.  We are very proud of our alumni and that many give time to come back and talk to our pupils and students.

Are you a former pupil/student from our school?  We’d love to hear your story and perhaps feature you on our website or invite you to call back to our school and talk about your career pathway.  There are lots of ways to do this but have a look at our Employer Area for some ideas and do get in touch!

We run lots of inspirational events for our students

From year 7 onwards pupils and students get lots of opportunities to think about what their next best steps will be.  As part of this we will be shining a spotlight on events we put on with guest speakers from the world of work and education.  We will share the impact this can have on helping our pupils think about their futures and what has inspired their careers education journey so far.

Our next Careers day will be for year 10 on the 3rd July.

This careers page, policies and guidance have been developed in line with guidance from the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) in a bid to make all Leicester and Leicestershire schools to carry the same information for their young learners.

THE DATE OF OUR NEXT CAREERS INFORMATION REVIEW IS SEPTEMBER 2024.
