Last week, our Year 10 History students journeyed though the stress of Whitechapel, uncovering the gritty truths of Victorian London - from Jack the Ripper to the Match Girls Strike, the trip brought Crime and Punishment studies to life in the best way 🇬🇧🔎🚶♂️
🪖 Monday was an action‑packed day for our Year 10 students! For students who were unable to secure external work experience, we welcomed the @britisharmy into school to deliver a full day of exciting, hands‑on workshops.
Students took part in a wide range of activities, including:
🧗 Rock climbing
⚙️ A mechanical challenge – building small machines using technical equipment
⚡ Reaction‑based challenges
🎯 Archery
💪 Physical training
🍳 Ration cooking
The day also included an informative presentation exploring Army careers and the wide range of opportunities available.
A fantastic alternative experience that encouraged teamwork, resilience and new skills – well done to all involved! 👏

The 2025 Sixth Form Performance Data has been released and Rawlins has once again achieved outstanding results 🎉
📈 Rated Above Average in the DfE performance tables, our students are making more progress than most, outperforming many other local providers, including several independent schools across Leicestershire.
This success reinforces what we believe wholeheartedly: Rawlins offers the strongest state‑funded Sixth Form education in North Leicestershire.
Our results highlight the strength of our Sixth Form offer:
✨ Academic excellence delivered through expert teaching
✨ Personalised support and guidance from our dedicated Sixth Form team
✨ Outstanding preparation for life beyond school, with strong industry, apprenticeship, and university links
Together, these ensure our students not only achieve exceptional results, they leave Rawlins confident, capable, and future‑ready.
A brilliant achievement for our students, staff, and community. Rawlins Sixth Form continues to go from strength to strength! 👏
Congratulations to all those who have secured places today to join us in September! 🎉🙌 We can’t wait for your Rawlins journey to begin! 🌟🎓
Our Sixth Form recently enjoyed an inspiring and educational trip to the Houses of Parliament! 🇬🇧🙌
Students took part in a full tour, including watching live debates in both the House of Lords and the House of Commons (no photos allowed in those areas!). They explored Westminster Hall, the oldest part of the Palace of Westminster dating back to 1097, and viewed the stunning "New Dawn" artwork, its 12‑hour lighting cycle linked to the tidal Thames symbolises the suffragette movement’s rising tide of change.
As they walked the historic corridors of power, students discovered artwork depicting key moments in British democracy, including the Magna Carta and the curbing of monarchical authority.
They then took part in an engaging workshop where they stepped into the shoes of MPs, working through constituency scenarios and discussing how they would tackle real‑world issues.
To round off the day, our local MP Jeevan Sandher met with the students to answer their questions and share insight into parliamentary life.
Our students were absolutely fabulous throughout the day and thoroughly enjoyed this unique experience! 🌟
Our Sixth Form students have been busy taking part in a Valentine’s Day Cake Decorating Competition & Bake Sale, all in support of Living Without Abuse, a vital local charity helping individuals and families affected by domestic and sexual violence across Leicestershire and Rutland 💖🧁
Every cake sold helps make a difference. 100% of the funds raised will go directly to @lwacharity, helping them continue their confidential and life-changing support services.
Thank you to all our talented bakers and everyone supporting this meaningful cause! 💕✨

Our Year 8 students recently took part in the national @s4tp_official Big Ideas Programme, working with industry mentors to tackle real sustainability challenges through creativity, teamwork and STEM innovation 🤝🧪🧠
Their voices, vision and solutions are now part of a growing movement empowering young people to shape a more sustainable future! 👏
Our incredible Year 10-13 students brought the house down in December with a truly unforgettable production of Hairspray 🌟🎭👏
From the high energy opening night on Tuesday 9th December to the emotional finale on Friday 12th December, a cast of 50 dedicated performers lit up the stage and wowed packed audiences all week long!
Hairspray may be a feel good musical, but it also carries powerful messages around race and gender, with our cast striking the perfect balance between humour, heart, and meaningful storytelling.
Despite working with a tiny budget, the production values were outstanding. Sound, lighting, set and costume design all shone, with moments like The Big Doll House showcasing just how brilliantly every element came together 🙌
Once again, a Rawlins production has highlighted the power of teamwork, creativity and individual talent. We couldn’t be prouder of this diverse and inspiring group of young people!
Huge congratulations to everyone involved and a special shout out goes to our Year 13 performers taking part in their final Rawlins show before heading off to new adventures next year 🎉
