The curriculum at Rawlins is shaped by our vision to Act wisely and make the most of every opportunity (Colossians 4:5). It has been designed to offer students a broad and balanced experience across all key stages, and ensure that all students acquire the powerful knowledge, skills and understanding they need to be successful. Developing trust through the delivery of our diverse curriculum, we aim to inspire hope and motivate our students to build success and achieve their very best, empowering them to shape the future and successfully transition onto the next step in their learning journey.
Ongoing assessment, both within lesson and at the end of learning sequences, focuses on the acquisition of powerful knowledge and skills, moving this knowledge from short to long term memory, and supporting student’s preparation for linear exams and the underlying impact, powerful knowledge has in empowering students to flourish as purposeful citizens, serving the common good. We use a mixture of retrieval practice and interleaving in our curriculum design to ensure that key concepts and knowledge are reinforced frequently.
Our curriculum overviews for each subject show the sequencing and development of the powerful knowledge and skills as they grow and flourish over time.
